Community College Baseball : Gonzales Leads Santa Ana to 15-1 Victory

Ruben Gonzales was 4 for 4 with 6 RBIs, including a first-inning grand slam, to lead Santa Ana College to a 15-1 win over LA Valley in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Santa Ana.

Gonzales, a freshman from Buena Park High School, added a solo home run in the eighth inning and two singles. The outfielder/designated hitter is 12 for 13 with 5 homers in leading the Dons to a 3-0 start.

Gary Thomason had a solo homer in the seventh inning and finished the game 4 for 6 with 4 RBIs as the Dons pounded three LA Valley pitchers for 15 hits.

Mike Schwabe pitched seven innings for Santa Ana to record his first win of the year.

In other community college action:

Cypress 4, Fullerton 0--The Chargers remained unbeaten (3-0) under first-year Coach Scott Pickler with the win in the second round of the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament. John Morin and Bert Lizarraga each had solo home runs in the fourth inning and Chris Cocman added one in the seventh for Cypress. All three finished the game 2 for 4.
