A pilot recycling program in West Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades and Brentwood will be launched at 9:15 a.m. Friday at Webster Junior High School, 11330 Graham Place.

The goals for the program, which is expected to include 15,000 single-family residences, are to save energy and tax dollars and to avert the city’s critical landfill shortage by recycling glass, metal and newspapers that would otherwise be disposed of as trash.

The recycling program is funded jointly by the City of Los Angeles and the California Waste Management Program. Ecolo-Haul, a local recycling firm, is the city’s broker for purchase of the recycled glass, metal and newspapers.
