The pilot who died when his light plane crashed into a home in Sepulveda was identified as Lewis M. Brody of Northridge, a personal-injury lawyer who specialized in air crash litigation, the coroner’s office said. Brody, 41, died when his Piper Aerostar crashed into the residence at 9545 Ruffner Ave. and exploded Wednesday evening. Brody, who had reported engine trouble, was attempting to bring the disabled plane into Van Nuys Airport when it went down. The occupant of the home escaped with only minor injuries, but damage to the home and two autos there was reported in excess of $125,000.
