A woman whose roommate was killed minutes before she arrived at their Rosemead home was wounded in a struggle with the gunman, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. Dayle Okazaki, 34, was found shot to death on the kitchen floor of her condominium by her roommate, Marie Hernandez, 25, who was able to hide from the gunman after being shot in the hand, Deputy Mason Kenny said. Hernandez arrived home and was confronted by the gunman in her garage. After she was shot, Hernandez ran outside and hid in bushes at the side of the condominium complex in the 8500 block of Village Lane. She was later hospitalized in good condition. Kenny said detectives, who were searching for the gunman, were unsure of a motive in the slaying.
