Anaheim : Lumber Truck Spill Ties Up 91 Freeway

Share

Traffic on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Anaheim was tied up for 5 1/2 hours Monday morning after a truck overturned on an off-ramp, spilling lumber across both the northbound lanes of Kraemer Boulevard, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

The driver of the truck, Danny Clark Olinger, 34, of Gazelle, Calif., was treated for minor cuts and bruises at Kaiser Permanente Anaheim Medical Center, CHP information officer Paul Caldwell said.

According to Caldwell, the truck driver took a curve of the off-ramp too sharply and struck a curb, causing the tractor and single, flatbed trailer to overturn at about 6:25 a.m.

CHP officers were forced to close down the off-ramp and reroute traffic around Kraemer Boulevard, causing problems for numerous employees bound for a nearby Rockwell International Corp. plant and other businesses in the industrial complex.

“It really caused a headache for those folks going to work,” Caldwell said.

It was not until noon Monday that the stacks of 20-foot-long boards were cleared away by road crews, the truck righted, and both the off-ramp and surface streets reopened to traffic, he said.
