Shortstop Julio Franco of the Cleveland Indians failed to show up for Saturday’s game with the New York Yankees but was later located at a friend’s house near Yankee Stadium.

A spokesman for the Indians said Franco, hitting .516 in nine games, was found at the home of Juan Todman of the Bronx. Todman said Franco spent the night at his house and awakened Saturday feeling ill. Since the house has no telephone he could not call anyone and instead went to sleep.

Indian Manager Pat Corrales said Franco will be disciplined. “When he’s around the hotel when I get back there, I’ll see him, and he’ll have to do something about this,” said Corrales, whose team lost to the Yankees, 5-2, Saturday with Mike Fischlin at shortstop.
