Neighbor Slays Home Robber

A Palms man who heard screams coming from a neighbor’s apartment burst into the home and shot and killed a robber, police said today. The stocking-masked intruder, 52, knocked on the door of an apartment on the 3700 block of Clarington Avenue late Thursday, demanding money when the residents answered, police said.

Police said the robber then began beating the occupants, a man, 54, and his wife, 60. The neighbor, 29, who lives in the apartment above the couple, barged in with a handgun and shot the robber three times in the abdomen after the suspect lunged toward him, police said.
