La Mirada
Following through on a pledge he made when he was named mayor of La Mirada last month, Lou Piltz is meeting with residents every Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
The mayor plans to meet with residents to discuss their concerns and issues facing the city as long as there is interest in the hourlong sessions, said Tom Robinson, the city’s director of community resources.
“One of the new mayor’s top priorities is accessibility,” Robinson said. “He wants to find out what’s on the minds of city residents.”
City Hall is at 13700 La Mirada Blvd.
Piltz was first appointed to the council in 1978 to fill the unexpired term of Republican Wayne Grisham, who left to serve two terms in Congress and last fall was elected to the state Assembly in the 63rd District. Piltz was elected to a four-year term in 1982, the same year he first served as La Mirada’s mayor.
Piltz was the council’s unanimous choice for mayor last month, replacing Councilman Wayne Rew. The new mayor pro tem is Councilman Dave Peters, who has been on the council for more than a decade.
Both Piltz and Peters will hold their new posts for one year.
