Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh may have been the site of drug dealing for professional football players as well as baseball players, CBS-TV reported Thursday.

On the CBS Evening News, the network interviewed an unnamed source “who claims to know what the grand jury is hearing about dope in big-league sports.” The interview was conducted with the person in silhouette and the voice electronically disguised.

According to the source, Three Rivers Stadium has been the site of drug dealing for not only baseball players, but also football players.

The source, who CBS said spent years with professional teams and had access to locker rooms, told of a dealer who dropped a bag of cocaine on the floor of the locker room after the game. The person said “pills, marijuana and cocaine” have been dealt at Three Rivers Stadium for the last 10-12 years.

A federal grand jury, sitting in Pittsburgh and expected to hand up indictments soon, is investigating cocaine trafficking, reportedly targeting drug dealers rather than players.

At least 11 baseball players, some of whom have gone through drug rehabilitation programs, have testified before the grand jury, including Al Holland, Lee Mazzilli and Rod Scurry of the Pittsburgh Pirates; Dale Berra of the New York Yankees, Lee Lacy of the Baltimore Orioles and Dave Parker of Cincinnati Reds, all three former Pirates; Keith Hernandez of the New York Mets; Lonnie Smith of the St. Louis Cardinals; Tim Raines of the Montreal Expos; Enos Cabell of the Houston Astros, and Jeff Leonard of the San Francisco Giants.
