KNAC-fm, a 3,000-watt station in Long Beach, announced Friday that it will carry the broadcast of the Indianapolis 500 May 26. KLAC, which had carried the race for many years, is under new management and dropped the broadcast this year.

Gary Price, KNAC-fm’s general manager, said that his station’s signal covers most of the Los Angeles Basin, much of Orange County and parts of the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys. KNAC-fm is at 105.5 on the dial.

KGRB, 900, and its sister station, KBOB-fm, 98.3, in West Covina may also carry the race. General Manager Bob Burdette said that a decision has not yet been made. His stations cover only the eastern part of the San Gabriel Valley.
