Santa Ana, Fullerton in Softball Tournament

Santa Ana College will be the favorite to win the two-day, double-elimination state softball championship tournament, which begins today at Golden West College.

The Dons (37-2), who won the Southern California sectional tournament last week by beating South Coast Conference rival Fullerton, play Northern California sectional runner-up Sacramento City (38-9) in the opening game of the state tournament at noon.

Fullerton (30-9) plays Northern California sectional champion College of San Mateo (31-5) at 2 o’clock.

First-round losers play again at 5 p.m.Saturday and first-round winners play again at 7 p.m. The championship game is scheduled Sunday at 2 p.m.
