Jockey Fernando Toro was dumped by his mount, Chelkov, in the seventh race at Hollywood Park and kicked by at least one trailing horse.

Dr. Robert Kerlan said Toro suffered two broken ribs in addition to bruises to the liver and right kidney, but both organs are functioning. Toro will remain in the hospital’s intensive care unit for a few days. Chelkov suffered a broken leg and was destroyed.
