Thompson After Record Firecracker 50 Win

Dean Thompson of Carson will attempt to become the first four-time winner of the Firecracker 50 in tonight’s 50-lap sprint car main event at Ascot Park. Jimmy Oskie, the only other three-time winner, is sidelined with compressed vertebra from a racing accident last month.

Defending champion in the 25th annual race is Rip Williams of Garden Grove, who finished third last week in his first race since flipping last month at Putnamville, Ind. Also in tonight’s race will be Bubby Jones, defending CRA champion.
