A Bridge to Preservation

Share

The fourth and last of the Pasadena Heritage parties on the old Colorado Street Bridge will be held Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.

This year’s gala will be a tea dance in the Gatsby tradition with several big bands, vintage cars, antique bicycles and the Pasadena Trolley, an old streetcar converted to street use. Period dress is optional but welcome.

There will be a no-host bar, hors d’oeuvres donated by local restaurants and an old-time fruit stand.

Festivities will include dance demonstrations, a dance contest with prizes, commemorative pins, flowers, photographs and the flight of a hot air balloon over the Arroyo Seco.

The party, the major fund-raiser for Pasadena Heritage, will be the last one held on the facility, popularly known as Suicide Bridge, before it undergoes rehabilitation.

More than 2,000 people are expected to attend at $25 a person. Proceeds will support the programs of Pasadena Heritage, a nonprofit historic preservation organization.
