The NBA has notified its franchises that the salary cap for the upcoming season will be $4,233,000 per team, an increase of $433,000 over last season, according to the New York Times.
“The league is coming off its most successful season,” said Gary Bettman, the NBA’s general counsel, after a meeting with Larry Fleisher, his counterpart with the NBA Players Assn. “As a result, the players’ share of the league’s success is reflected in a higher cap.”
According to Fleisher, the projected average salary for this year would approach $375,000 per player.
