Tracy Nakazaki of Manhattan Beach called Sunday’s 4-2 victory over Brad Greer in the 64th Broadmoor Men’s Invitational Golf Tournament “the biggest win in my amateur career.”

The 23-year-old Nakazaki spent the afternoon battling the tough 24-year-old Greer of Huntington Beach in the 36-hole final of the 72-par, 7,154-yard Broadmoor East course.

After the morning round of 18, Greer held a one-up lead, but Nakazaki evened the match on the 21st hole and went ahead one by winning the 22nd with a birdie on the par-4 hole.

Greer evened the match on the 23rd hole with a par, and Nakazaki bogeyed.

Nakazaki won the next three holes--the 24th, 25th and 26th--to go three-up. Greer took the 27th to bring it down to two-up going into the final nine.

Nakazaki went three-up on the 29th hole, and then Greer had a birdie on the 31st hole which cut it back to two-up. Both parred on the 32nd hole.

Nakazaki won the 33rd and 34th holes to take the match.

“It’s a great feeling to win this tournament,” he said. “My goal was to win one of the six tournaments I entered this summer. By winning today, the dream has come true. It’s the biggest win in my amateur career.”
