The NCAA’s eligibility committee ruled that basketball player Cedric Henderson of the University of Georgia is eligible to play next season. Henderson was declared ineligible May 23 when the infractions committee found that he had been involved in a recruiting violation as a high school senior, accepting a ride from Georgia Coach Hugh Durham.
That violation was one of nine found by the NCAA during an 18-month investigation of Georgia’s basketball program. The investigation resulted in a year’s probation for the Bulldogs.
The 6-foot 9-inch Henderson, a center-forward who averaged 15 points and eight rebounds a game last season as a freshman, has been attending summer school because of academic troubles.
