Al Washington, the 1982 Los Angeles City Player of the Year in football while attending Carson High, has transferred from Long Beach City College to USC.
Washington, a 6-1, 180-pounder, will play wide receiver at USC, according to Coach Ted Tollner. Washington played quarterback at Long Beach CC last year and wide receiver in 1983.
As a high school senior, he played quarterback, passing for 1,779 yards and 23 touchdowns and rushing for 400 yards and eight touchdowns. As a high school junior, he played wide receiver, making 44 catches for 918 yards and nine touchdowns.
Tollner also announced that two recruited high school players--inside linebacker Dan Quinn of San Dieguito High in Encinitas, Calif., and cornerback Desmond Moreland of Carson High--have decided not to enroll at USC.
