Thirteen horses, headed by the Charlie Whittingham-trained entry of Greinton and Dahar, were entered Friday for the fifth running of the Budweiser-Arlington Million Sunday at Arlington Park.

Greinton, who has won the Californian and Hollywood Gold Cup this year at Hollywood Park, and Dahar, who made his United States debut last year when he ran ninth in the Million, have been made the 5-2 favorites in the 1-mile grass race.

The field, in post-position order starting at the rail: Teleprompter, with Tony Ives riding; The Noble Player, Bill Shoemaker; Gate Dancer, Chris McCarron; Free Guest, Steve Cauthen; Drumalis, Pat Day; Flying Pidgeon, Jose Santos; Tsunami Slew, Rafael Meza; Greinton, Laffit Pincay; King of Clubs, Pat Eddery; Al Mamoon, Sandy Hawley; Both Ends Burning, Eddie Delahoussaye; Dahar, Don Brumfield, and Kings Island, Fernando Toro.

All of the starters carry 126 pounds except Free Guest, who gets 122 because she’s a filly.

There’s a chance of rain today and Sunday, which may leave the Arlington turf soft. That could work in favor of the three English horses--Teleprompter, Free Guest and King of Clubs--who are used to running on soft turf. All of the other starters represent America, although many of them began their careers in Europe.
