Iowa State quarterback Alex Espinoza, of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., pleaded guilty to one count of serious assault and one count of simple assault in connection with two separate altercations near the Ames, Iowa, campus.
Espinoza, 21, a former St. Paul High School star, faces up to a year in prison on the charges, but Dist. Atty. Mary Richards said she will recommend that he be sentenced to up to 100 hours of community service, on Sept. 30.
