A 2 1/2-year-old boy was killed after he was struck by a pickup truck in the 2900 block of Newton Avenue in the Logan Heights area of San Diego, the coroner’s office reported. Ndubuisi Uche Chima apparently ran into the path of the truck. The driver was not cited. The boy’s mother, Norvelle Warren, had left him in a house and had walked across the street to visit a friend when the child ran after her, said a deputy coroner. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
