Two of three people seriously injured in a three-vehicle collision on winding Ortega Highway Sunday have been removed from intensive care, hospital officials said Monday.

Kent Sharp, 18, of Indio had been airlifted to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana in serious condition with a broken arm and severe cuts on the forehead. But Monday, his condition was upgraded to good.

A California Highway Patrol spokesman said the accident occurred when Sharp’s car swerved into oncoming traffic.
