The Region - News from Sept. 30, 1985
A Huntington Beach man was identified as one of the nine Americans killed in the Mexico City earthquake. Witnesses said accountant Emery Takacs, 52, was just leaving his hotel to return home after a week’s vacation when the quake struck Sept. 19. His body was recovered from the debris of the hotel four days later. Takacs’ friend, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Jaime Corral, said the body was buried before identification could be made, but will now be exhumed for reburial in the United States.
