An associate of and co-defendant with boxing promoter Don King received almost twice as much in one 1980 payment from a closed-circuit boxing telecast as she reported on that year’s tax return, a witness at King’s tax trial testified in New York.
Joseph Gagliardi said that Constance Harper received $50,000 as one payment from the telecast of the Sugar Ray Leonard-Roberto Duran bout in June 1980. Harper, who with King is accused of tax evasion and conspiracy, reported income for 1980 of $27,366, according to her indictment.
