USIU Women Win WCAC Invitational

The U.S. International University women’s cross-country team took four of the top five places in winning the West Coast Athletic Conference Invitational over the 5,000-meter course Saturday at Crystal Springs Park.

USIU’s Mary Klas (17:53.0) was the individual winner and was followed by teammates Elizabeth Lehenbauer (18:35.0), Jeanne Murphy (18:42.0) and Gina Jauregui (18:46.0). Only Patty Young of Nevada Reno, who finished third (18:35.0), was able to crack USIU’s top four. USIU finished with 20 points and Nevada Reno was second with 57. The University of San Diego finished fourth at 133.

The University of Portland won the men’s division with 26 points. The Pilots’ Brent Felt covered the 10,000-meter course in 33:25.5 to take first place. The USD men finished fifth with 157 points.
