Stalder and Keil Win Singles Titles at Teaching Pro Tennis Tournament
Curt Stalder of Irvine defeated Mike Fedderly of Costa Mesa, 7-6, 7-5, Sunday to win the men’s open division of the $6,000 Southern California Teaching Pro Tournament at the Laguna Niguel Racquet Club.
Stalder teamed with Jim Harper of Mission Viejo to beat the San Diego pair of Tony Trear and Mark Tappan in the men’s open doubles final, 7-5, 6-3.
In the women’s open singles final, Katherine Keil of Los Angeles defeated Linda Mallory of Laguna Niguel, 6-0, 6-2. Helen Moore of Laguna Niguel and Barb Lemberg of San Clemente won their second straight women’s open doubles title by beating Mallory and Jill Beck (Irvine) 6-3, 6-4.
In men’s 40 singles, Robyn Ray of Newport Beach defeated Niesi Sie of Van Nuys 6-3, 6-3.
