Penn State became the fifth team to reach the top of the Associated Press college football poll this season. The Nittany Lions, who are 9-0, replaced Florida, who lasted at No. 1 for one week.
Penn State received 44 of 59 first-place votes. Nebraska moved up from third place to second with nine first-place votes. Ohio State is No. 3 and Air Force, the nation’s only 10-0 team, is No. 4.
UCLA is ranked No. 12.
