Welcome to the Walkup Skydome where a couple of reclamation projects will be showcased tonight (5:30 p.m., PST) as two teams try to salvage what’s left of disappointing 1985 seasons.

Cal State Fullerton, Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. champion the last two years with an 18-6 record over that span, has been reduced to the grim reality that the best it can do with this season is post a winning record--and the Titans must win their last three games to do that.

The Titans, 3-2 in the PCAA and 3-5 overall, have been ravaged by injuries and incapacitated by their lack of offense.

On the other side of the line of scrimmage are the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, a team that hasn’t had much offensive success, either. The Lumberjacks, 1-5 in the Big Sky Conference and 3-6 overall, have scored just 10 points in each of their last three outings and only 36 total points in their five conference losses.

Northern Arizona has also been beset with injuries.

Freshman Tony Dill will start again at quarterback for the Titans, and he may stay out there no matter what happens, unless he’s injured. Titan Coach Gene Murphy seems intent on preserving freshman Carlos Siragusa’s redshirt year and might even turn to quarterback-turned-tight-end Jim Thornton in the event Dill is hurt.

Titan senior quarterback Kevin Jan was sidelined for good last week when he suffered a separated passing shoulder, the latest in a long line of injuries that include a knee problem that will require surgery, two cracked ribs and a fractured tail bone.
