Ventura Team Gets League Approval
Special to The Times
SAN JOSE —
The nine franchise owners in the California League voted unanimously Friday night to approve the move of the Lodi team to Ventura, giving Southern California its first minor league baseball team in 18 years.
The vote clears the final obstacle in the effort of former major league players Ken McMullen and Jim Colbern and retired funeral director Jim Biby to bring a Class-A team to Ventura County.
The team will play its home games next summer at Ventura College.
