UCSD Can’t Win Its Fifth in Row From La Verne
SAN DIEGO —
The UC San Diego women’s volleyball team, which beat La Verne four straight times during the regular season, failed to make it five in a row in the NCAA Division III west regional Saturday night in Triton Pavilion.
The Tritons (26-19), the defending national champions, lost, 15-5, 16-14, 15-11, to La Verne (19-14).
Shawna Hinrich led the 14th-ranked Leopards with 16 kills. Janet Hughes had 12 kills to pace No. 8 UCSD.
