Faust Says He’s Rejected 2 Offers

Former Notre Dame Coach Gerry Faust said he has turned down two college coaching job offers, and there are five others he said he could accept “without interviewing,” according to the Cincinnati Post.

“It’s unbelievable. I’m really surprised at the opportunities I have,” he told the newspaper Friday.

Faust, who resigned from the Notre Dame post last week, would not name the schools at which he has been offered jobs, but he did say they were “scholarship schools,” referring to either Division I-A or I-AA schools.

He said he has received 11 other inquiries about other coaching jobs since Notre Dame finished its season last Saturday with a 58-7 loss to Miami. Faust’s teams had a 30-26-1 record during his five years with the Fighting Irish.

“I don’t expect to make a decision for at least a week or 10 days,” Faust said. “I don’t want to make any hasty decisions. The last time, I jumped into things too quickly--not that I made the wrong decision in going to Notre Dame. I just jumped into things too fast and made too many quick decisions.”
