Irvine : Body of Woman Found in Suitcase Is Identified
A Sheriff’s Department spokesman Monday identified a woman whose body was found stuffed into a large suitcase and dumped alongside a rural road in Irvine, but there was still no determination on the cause of death.
Lt. Richard Olson said the woman was identified as Michelle Marie Sagel, 24. However, he said investigators had no address for the woman.
Olson said an autopsy failed to reveal the cause of death and toxicological tests would be conducted. Results of those tests, however, will take at least two weeks.
Sagel’s body was discovered early Saturday morning by a passing motorist. The body had been dumped beside Jeffrey Road, just east of the Santa Ana Freeway, Olson said.
“The investigators are trying to find a last-known address. Other than that, we have no information,” Olson said.
