Long Beach Routed by TCU, 85-50
Texas Christian jumped out to a 16-2 lead and cruised to a 85-50 nonconference victory over Cal State Long Beach Monday night at Fort Worth.
The Horned Frogs were led by junior guards Carl Lott and Carven Holcombe, who scored 16 and 15 points, respectively. TCU improved to 7-2. Long Beach, in the midst of a 14-game road trip, fell to 3-6.
TCU’s tough defense held the 49ers to 25% (15 of 59) shooting from the field and kept them scoreless through the first six minutes of the game. TCU, which shot 49%, led, 37-20, at halftime. The 49ers committed 21 turnovers to the Horned Frogs’ 12.
Arizona State is the only team to shoot over 50% against the Horned Frogs this season.
Center Vince Jefferson scored 11 points to lead Long Beach.
