A Texas A&M; University football player, who has been kicked off the team, was given cash by a booster who also paid him outlandish wages for doing chores around the house, the Dallas Times Herald reported.

Terry Thompson, a reserve linebacker and nose guard for the Aggies in 1982 and 1983, was quoted as saying Midland, Tex., booster James Allega gave him gasoline and “traveling money” on three occasions.

Thompson said that twice while at A&M; he called Allega, owner of Allega Travel in Midland and a member of the Aggie Club, and was sent $100 personal checks.

Thompson also was given $150 “traveling money” by Allega just before leaving Midland to begin his freshman year at A&M;, he said.

The summer after signing with A&M;, Thompson said Allega hired him to do yard work at wildly inflated wages. For one three-day period, he was paid $300, Thompson said. On another occasion, he was paid $200 for a 30-minute job washing cars belonging to Allega and another A&M; booster.
