Local News in Brief : Thousand Oaks Man Shot Outside Home
A Thousand Oaks man was in serious but stable condition Friday after he was shot on his front lawn by a man who then fled, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The wounded man, Michael Oppenheimer, 24, was taken to Westlake Community Hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen, dispatcher Steve Mynatt said.
Oppenheimer was shot at 11:40 p.m. Thursday when he walked outside his house on Wicklow Court to investigate a noise, Mynatt said. A man shot twice at Oppenheimer, hitting him once, Mynatt said.
There is no suspect, and no motive has been established, Mynatt said. He said investigators do not know what type of gun was used.
