Rams-Bears Football Wager Has Mouth-Watering Odds
Calling it “California sunshine vs. Chicago tundra,” Bruce Nestande is betting a bushel of Orange County fruit and vegetables that the Los Angeles Rams will beat the Chicago Bears in the National Football Conference championship game Sunday in Chicago.
Nestande is throwing in a pass to Disneyland as part of his bet with Cook County Commissioner Dan O’Brien, who is wagering Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas and Eskimo Pies that the Bears will win the game and go on to the Super Bowl.
Nestande, a native Minnesotan, professed pity Wednesday for “those folks living off the Midwest tundra” who have to face the winter “without fresh fruit and vegetables and no January sunbathing weather.”
Nestande told his fellow supervisors about the bet Tuesday and promised them a share in the spoils if he wins.
