The Lady Matadors, ranked 10th in the nation in this week’s NCAA Division II poll, snapped Azusa Pacific’s eight-game win streak. CSUN will open California Collegiate Athletic Assn. play Saturday night when it hosts Chapman College.
Sitton, a junior, scored 25 points and had nine rebounds to pace Northridge. O’Hara scored 16 and Flanagan added 12 points.
Northridge (10-2) built a 30-25 lead at halftime, but Azusa Pacific (10-3) went on a 7-2 run to begin the second half and tied the game, 32-32.
But the Lady Matadors responded with accurate shooting from the field, hitting 58% of their shots the rest of the way. Sitton scored 15 of her points in the final half as CSUN pulled ahead by seven and was never again threatened.
