Irvine : Motorcyclist Shoots Himself While Riding
A motorcyclist was reported in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in the chest early Tuesday while riding a motorcycle on the northbound San Diego Freeway, Irvine police said.
A Highway Patrol Officer, responding to what was believed to be a traffic accident, found Raymond Brouelette, 27, of Mission Viejo on the ground near his motorcycle just north of Jeffrey Road, police said.
Brouelette had been coming from his job at a Mission Viejo service station when he “accidentally shot himself with his own gun,” which was “wrapped up in a rag in his belt,” Police Investigator Larry Montgomery said.
“He works late at night and closes up,” Montgomery said, adding that Brouelette carries a handgun “for protection.”
