Toro Rides Truculent to a Santa Anita Victory
Truculent, a slight favorite ridden by Fernando Toro, closed strongly and scored a 1 3/4-length victory in the $45,000 feature race Thursday at Santa Anita.
Double Quick Time, ridden by Rafael Meza, was second, a half-length in front of third-place finisher Tapping Wood, ridden by Laffit Pincay.
Truculent was clocked in 1:47 3/5 for 1 1/8 miles over the turf course and paid $8.40, $5.60 and $4.60. Double Quick Time returned $6.20 and $5.60; Tapping Wood paid $7 to show.
