Monterey Park : Group to Promote Census

Share

Eighteen people have been appointed to a city committee that will inform residents about the 1986 test census and encourage them to complete and return their questionnaires. Monterey Park is one of several Southern California cities selected to participate in the test census, which will be used to help the U.S. Census Bureau plan for its 1990 count.

Mayor Rudy Peralta said that the Complete Count Committee will undertake an intensive public education campaign, delivering speeches before community organizations and distributing flyers. Census questionnaires will be delivered to each house on March 14 to be answered and returned by March 16.

Peralta said it is important for everyone to be counted because the results also will be used for local planning purposes.
