The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to annex 800 acres of vacant land between Marina del Rey and Los Angeles International Airport, where the Summa Corp. plans to build 7,600 homes and apartment buildings and 3 million square feet of office space. The new community, called Playa Vista, is expected to house about 18,000 residents and to provide thousands of new jobs.
