PCAA Roundup : Walker’s Shot Gives 49ers a 56-55 Win

Guard Billy Walker’s driving basket with three seconds left gave Cal State Long Beach a 56-55 victory over San Jose State Saturday night in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game at San Jose.
San Jose had gone ahead, 55-54, on guard Anthony Perry’s free throw with 16 seconds left in the game. But a steal by guard Morlon Wiley with 10 seconds to go set up Walker’s game-winning basket.
San Jose led, 33-24, at halftime, but the 49ers pulled even at 45-45 with 6:50 remaining in the game on a Wiley free throw.
Wallace and center DeAnthony Langston led Long Beach with 10 points each. San Jose guard Herb Simon led all scorers with 14. Long Beach is 6-17 overall and 2-10 in the PCAA. San Jose is 14-8, 7-6.
Utah State 63, New Mexico State 55--Greg Grant scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Utah State (8-12, 4-7) at Logan, Utah. Bill Floyd, who had 13 points, made three three-point shots for the Aggies.
Ken Travis led New Mexico State (14-6, 8-3) with 14 points.
