Chapman Women Are Still Winless After Tennis Loss

The Cal State Los Angeles women’s tennis team beat Chapman, 8-1, Thursday afternoon in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match at Chapman.
In the Panthers’ only victory, Jeannine Lewis defeated Linda Marmoujo, 7-5, 6-3, in the No. 6 singles match. Chapman fell to 0-2 in conference and 0-5 overall. The Panthers play host to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at 2 p.m. Friday.
In community college action:
Golden West 6, Grossmont 3--Terri Johnson scored victories in singles and doubles to lead the Rustlers (3-0) to a nonconference victory over the Griffins at home. Johnson defeated Andrea Herron, 7-5, 6-0, and teamed with Val Spinosa to beat Herron and Cheryl Sargent, 7-6, 6-3. Golden West plays Tuesday at Cypress in its Southern California Conference opener.
