Athletic Director to Coach Mar Vista

Bud Aubuchon, the Mar Vista High School athletic director, is back for another term as Mariners’ head football coach.

Aubuchon, who coached Mar Vista from 1964 through 1974, replaces Nic Nicoloff, who resigned in December.

Aubuchon said Principal Alan Sachrison interviewed several candidates but didn’t have a staff position available at the school.

“Those other people were very interested and we liked them,” said Aubuchon. “But everyone agreed the head coach has to be on campus.

“Since we don’t have any openings and don’t know when we will, I decided to take the job. I’ve been here 21 years, and I didn’t want the kids to be left in a bind.”
