Sheriff’s deputies Friday morning arrested a man suspected of killing his estranged wife by fracturing her skull with an ax at the La Mesa home where she worked as a live-in housekeeper.

Sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of an injured woman in the 10300 block of Bonnie Lane at 3:15 a.m. Friday found Anna Kasprzak, 26, bleeding profusely from a severe head wound, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Lane was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later of cerebral contusions, cuts and a skull fracture, the coroner’s office said.
