Orange County College Basketball : Chapman Scores at Line to Beat Cal Poly Pomona

Chapman College made 19 of 23 free throws Saturday in defeating Cal Poly Pomona, 71-66, in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. game at Hutton Sports Center in Orange. Karl Tompkins led the Panthers (2-11, 7-18) with 19 points. Chapman’s Kelly Huston had a game-high 11 rebounds. The Panthers finish the season Tuesday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Cypress 60, Compton 48--The Chargers got their 14th consecutive victory and moved into a first-place tie with Compton by defeating the Tartans (7-8, 15-13) at Cypress. Sophomore forward Paul Horn lead the Chargers (14-1, 24-5) with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Orange Coast 61, Mt. San Antonio 60--Chuck McGavran and Richie Stamps keyed a second-half comeback for the Pirates (5-10, 12-16). McGavran, who finished with 11 points, came up with five steals and Stamps came off the bench to contribute 13 of his 17 points after intermission. Mt. SAC is 8-7 and 18-10.
