Aztecs Call Off Red-Black Football Game
San Diego State’s annual Red-Black football game between the varsity and alumni is being discontinued, Athletic Director Fred Miller announced Tuesday.
“We realize that the spring game was popular, and that a number of our old players looked forward to playing,” Miller said. “But in all conscience, we just didn’t think it was worth the risk. The biggest thing, in my mind, is the health and safety of the players.”
The Aztecs will conclude spring practice with an intrasquad scrimmage May 2 or 3.
