Fire Damages IRS Audit Office
An early-morning fire gutted the Glendale office of Internal Revenue Service auditors, causing about $1.5 million in damage, a Glendale Fire Department spokesman said.
The roof collapsed on the audit office at 119 N. Central Ave., leaving officials unsure whether records filed there were destroyed, said IRS spokeswoman Lowell Langers. However, the files can be reconstructed from computers and the audits will continue, she said. The cause of the 12:40 a.m. blaze was under investigation by arson specialists.
