A Chatsworth neurosurgeon pleaded guilty today to involuntary manslaughter in the death of his wife, Myrna, 32, who died in May, 1984, from an overdose of the painkilling drug, Demerol.

Dr. Stephen Levine had been charged with murdering his wife but was allowed to plead guilty to the lesser charge and will not be sentenced to prison, authorities said. Levine was accused of issuing more than 225 prescriptions for Demerol to his wife--who was addicted to the drug--during the last 14 months of her life.
