A Los Angeles man was sentenced to nearly six years in state prison for molesting three teen-age boys whose rock band he managed. Jerry Don Landreth, 44, pleaded guilty last Jan. 22 to four counts of oral copulation with a minor and two counts of sodomy with a minor, said Los Angeles County Deputy Dist. Atty. Lloyd M. Nash. Landreth worked as an advance man for former Vice President Walter F. Mondale during his 1984 presidential campaign, Nash said, before beginning a full-time career as a personal manager in the music industry. The crimes took place over a two-year period ending last December, Nash said, in apartments that Landreth rented in Woodland Hills, Studio City and Hollywood. Landreth persuaded the youths to stay at his apartment on weekends and seduced them by promising to make them famous, Nash said.
